How Does Opalescence Work?
Before you can have any teeth whitening treatment done, you need to have a consultation with your dentist. This is to ensure that your teeth are free of decay and your soft tissues are strong and healthy. Your dentist will also give you a professional cleaning to remove all traces of plaque and tartar, for even teeth whitening.
Opalescence tooth whitening is available in take-home trays, which gives you the convenience and comfort of being able to whiten at home, whenever it is convenient for you. Your dentist will give you the most suitable bleaching agent for your needs so you must wear the tray for the recommended time period.
Understanding The Opalescence Teeth Whitening Instructions
Following the opalescence teeth whitening instructions handed down by your dentist will ensure that you achieve your teeth whitening goals safely and securely. Wearing the bleach for too long, or bleaching more often than recommended can cause irreversible damage to your teeth.
Fill the trays
First, you will squeeze the correct amount of bleaching agent using the syringe, into the trays provided. It is usually recommended to use one bulb of bleaching agent per tray.
Brush your teeth
Always brush your teeth and tongue before inserting a teeth whitening tray. This will remove any debris or plaque from the surface of your teeth.
Remove any excess
Once you have inserted the teeth whitening trays you might find that some of the bleaching gel rises up the surface of your teeth. Use your finger or a clean toothbrush to remove the gel. You should not have any bleaching agent on your gums or soft tissue. Make sure you do not swallow any of the gel.
Leave for the recommended time period
Wear your Opalescence tooth whitening trays for the time period specified by your dentist. For Opalescence 10% you can wear it for 30 to 60 minutes for a period of five to ten days. For Opalescence 15% you need to wear the trays for 15 to 20 minutes for a five to ten-day period.
Clean the trays
Once the recommended wear-time has passed, you must clean your trays using cold water and a soft brush, and get them ready for the next teeth whitening session.
